NEI Introduces New Solid Electrolyte: Chlorine-rich LPSCl (Li5.5PS4.5Cl1.5)

NEI Corporation is excited to introduce a new sulfide-based solid electrolyte material: Chlorine-rich Lithium Phosphorus Sulfur Chloride (Li5.5PS4.5Cl1.5). It belongs to the argyrodite family of compounds and is a promising solid electrolyte material for all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries. Some key properties and benefits include:
- High ionic Conductivity: Cl-rich LPSCl exhibits exceptionally high ionic conductivity for lithium ions, comparable to that of liquid electrolytes. This enables faster charging and discharging rates in batteries.
- Wide Electrochemical Window: The material has a stable operating voltage window, allowing for the use of higher-voltage cathode materials and increased energy density.
- Improved Stability: The addition of chlorine to the Li-P-S framework enhances the stability of the electrolyte, reducing interfacial reactions with electrodes and improving overall battery performance.
- Safety: As a solid electrolyte, Li5.5PS4.5Cl1.5 eliminates the risk of electrolyte leakage and flammability, making batteries safer.
