NEI offers cost-effective and comprehensive battery characterization & electrochemical testing services, which includes custom electrode sheet fabrication, as well as lithium-ion coin cell and pouch cell fabrication and testing. Our extensive battery research and characterization facility, with multi-channel cell testers, provide you with the tools you need to implement your materials into the next generation of batteries.

The product engineers and scientists at NEI have extensive backgrounds in fundamental materials science and battery testing at the cell level, enabling us to make correlations between materials characteristics and cell performance. This unique ability, coupled with our vast experience in manufacturing custom tailored materials, helps us offer you insight in to how to better optimize your materials in order to attain the best cell performance.

Electrode Fabrication

NEI’s battery cell preparation and testing includes industry standard tape coating. Electrode tapes can be custom fabricated to the customer’s specification, including modifications in the composition of the tapes, such as:

  • Active material loading (80 – 95%)
  • Coating / tape thickness
  • Tape porosity or density
  • Binder type (aqueous / non-aqueous)
  • Binder content
  • Choice of current collector
Cell Fabrication Services
Some of the Cell Fabrication services that NEI provides, includes:
  • 2032 Coin Cells – choice of anode chemistry, Li, Li-ion, Silicon, Oxide
  • Pouch Cells – up to 2 Ah with standard and custom cell components
  • Use customer’s active and passive materials to fabricate coin and pouch cells
  • Modify electrolyte composition to avoid/mitigate gassing and side reactions
