Founded in 1997, NEI Corporation develops, manufactures, and sells advanced materials for a broad range of industrial customers around the world. The company was originally called Nanopowder Enterprises Incorporated (or “NEI” for short), building a strong foundation in the emerging field of nanotechnology. Over the following years, NEI’s technologies expanded and grew beyond nanotechnology, and NEI Corporation was born.

After humble beginnings and years of performing funded contract research, NEI has transformed itself into a customer-focused company and has become a world leader in select markets over the past decade. The company’s core competencies are in designing, developing, and producing products that meet the specific application needs of its customers. Our catalog of over 25 in-house developed coatings and 85 different battery products, as well as our numerous testing & characterization service offerings, are all centered with the needs of our valued customers in mind. More importantly, NEI is a solutions provider, wherein we not only produce materials, but also work closely with our customers to implement them in their applications.

NEI’s products, which are sold under the registered trademark NANOMYTE®, are backed by a suite of issued and pending patents. These products include: Functional & Protective Surface Coatings, Lithium-ion and Sodium-ion Battery Materials, and Specialty Nanoparticle-based products.

Our Facilities

NEI Corporation Headquarters

NEI Corporation currently has three facilities. Our business and accounting office is located in Piscataway, NJ, while our primary manufacturing and testing facilities are located in Somerset, NJ.

Since 2005, NEI has operated a 10,000 square foot, state-of-the-art materials manufacturing and testing facility in central New Jersey. Highlights include high temperature furnaces with controlled atmospheres, mixing, blending and drying equipment, coaters, particle characterization instruments, corrosion testing equipment, polymer films & coatings characterization, and a Li-ion battery testing laboratory.

In the spring of 2023, NEI began expanding its facilities with an additional 9,200 square feet of space to install new equipment in order deliver larger quantities of materials to better serve its customers.
