NEI’s Easy-to-Clean coatings implement both scratch resistance and non-stick properties to surfaces. Soil and liquids simply slide off the surface of coated components, thereby helping prevent deposits and extending the time between cleanings. The transparent coatings can be applied to plastics and metals, as well as glass and ceramics (500EC only) and are ideally suited for optical lenses, touch screen protectors, stainless steel appliances, hand rails, faucets, and 3D printed parts.

NANOMYTE® SR-100EC is a transparent, micron-thick, liquid coating that provides both scratch resistance and easy-to-clean properties to surfaces. The surface treatment is mechanically robust, highly repellent to water and oils, and enhances lubricity for a non-stick surface. The three-part liquid coating is ideally suited for optical lenses, touch screen protectors, stainless steel appliances, hand rails, and faucets. SR-100EC can be applied by dipping, spraying, gravure, reverse gravure, roll or flow coating and is thermally cured.

NANOMYTE® SR-100EC is a 3-part coating, sold in ready-to-mix liter and gallon kit quantities.

Physical Characteristics:

  • Product Form: Three-part liquid coating solutions
  • Color: Part A – Translucent; Part B – colorless; Part C – colorless
  • Viscosity (20 °C): 5 – 15 cP (mixed)

Technical Data:

  • Contact Angle on Fully Cured Film: 105 – 115° (water); 60 – 70° (hexadecane)
  • Abrasion Resistance (ASTM D1044): Δ Haze < 2% (polycarbonate substrate, CS-10F wheels, 500g load, 500 cycles)
  • UV Resistance: No visual damage after 200 hours of dry QUV test 1.5 W/m2 @ 340 nm, 55ºC
  • Chemical and Stain Resistance: No visual damage and stain with the following cleaning agents: household glass
    cleaner, ammonia cleaner, chlorine bleach, all-purpose cleaner, cook-top cleaner, stainless steel cleaner. (Test method: Spot and dry at 160°F for 30 min, wash with soft cloth-hot soapy water, and then rinse and blot dry).
  • Mix Ratio (by weight): 5:3:2 (A:B:C)
  • Curing Temperature: 85 °C (minimum recommended)
  • Cured Film Thickness: 3 – 10 µm (min / max recommended)
  • Coverage: 700 – 1,000 ft2 per gallon

NANOMYTE® SR-500EC

NANOMYTE® SR-500EC is a transparent coating designed to make surfaces easy-to-clean. The hard, dense, and smooth coating is a nanostructured composite consisting of organic and inorganic phases. The single component coating resists scratching and chipping, strongly adheres to polymer, metal, glass and ceramic surfaces, and is highly repellent to water and soil. SR-500EC is easily applied by dip, spray or brush techniques and can be cured at room temperature.

NANOMYTE® SR-500EC is a 1-part coating, sold in liter or gallon quantities.

  • Color: Clear liquid (colorless to slight yellow)
  • Water Contact Angle: 100 – 105°
  • Curing Temperature: 20° – 150 °C
  • Cured Film Thickness: 4 – 10 µm
  • Coverage: 800 – 1200 ft2 / gallon
  • Solids Content: 18 – 20 %
  • Carrier Type: Solventborne
  • VOCs: Less than 100 g/L

NEI’s SR-500EC-UVP is a durable, transparent coating designed to protect a wide variety of surfaces from the effects of outdoor exposure, coupled with an easy-to-clean functionality and enhanced weatherability and UV protection for underlying substrates.  The single component, ambient-cure coating maintains excellent hydrophobicity, with a static water contact angle of 100 – 105°, even after 2,000 hours of QUV exposure. SR-500EC-UVP also resists scratching, chipping, and strongly adheres to metal, glass, and ceramic surfaces. The coating is easily applied by dip, spray, or brush techniques and can be cured at room temperature.

How are your coatings applied?

NEI’s Easy-to-Clean coatings can be applied using standard coating processes, such as dipping, spraying, roll or flow coating, gravure and reverse gravure (SR-100EC only). Application instructions are included on the Technical Data Sheet of each coating.

Do you have any UV-cured coatings?

Currently, NEI’s coatings are ambient or thermal cure only. Our UV Protective line of coatings offer enhanced protection from the effects of sun and weather exposure, however they are not UV curable.

Do I need a primer?

We have found that all plastics and a few metals (copper, stainless steel, & nickel) will need pretreatment before applying our coatings in order to promote adhesion between the coating and substrate. This can be achieved by either using a primer or treating the surface to be coated by corona or plasma treatment. One exception is our self-healing coatings, which do not need any primer or surface treatment prior to coating. NEI has a couple of primer formulations available, which work well with a range of plastics.

Can I have a free sample to see if it works for my application?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide free samples for a number of reasons. However, our coatings are available for purchase starting as small as 1 liter. We also provide a coating service for a nominal fee, in order to demonstrate how are coating will work for your particular substrate / application.

What is the minimum order quantity for your coatings?

The minimum order quantity for most of our coatings is 1 liter.

How does your Coating Service work?

In some cases, it may be easier and more economical for NEI to coat parts for you. This option allows us to optimize and make recommendations on the application process for your particular substrate, in order to ensure the best coating application and performance. It’s also a great opportunity to try several different coatings on your specific parts to compare and test for your particular application. There is a nominal fee for this service in order to cover our costs, and will depend on the type, size, and quantity of your parts.

Can coatings be purchased for personal use?

Due to certain hazards and regulations, NEI only sells business to business.

How can I place an order?

NEI sells and ships it’s coatings directly from Somerset, NJ. We accept company and university purchase orders, or we can provide you with an order form. We can also accept orders through third-party buyers. We do not currently have any distributors or agents for our coatings.

What kinds of payments do you accept?

NEI accepts several forms of payment:

  • Domestic – Checks (USD), ACH bank transfers, Credit Cards
  • International – Wire transfer, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), Credit Cards

What are your payment terms?

For most new customers, we require a prepayment or credit card, until a relationship is established. After that, we accept NET 30 payment terms, from date of invoice. Invoices are sent at the time of shipment.
