Silicon-Graphite Tapes

Anode Electrode Sheets

Silicon (Si) has attracted great attention due to its remarkably high theoretical specific capacity of ~4200 mAh/g, and as a result, silicon is increasingly being used in high energy density lithium-ion batteries. In most cases, a small amount of silicon is mixed with graphite. Si-Graphite composite materials offer the advantage of improving the cycling stability of silicon, which is attributed to the surrounding carbon-based matrix and improved electrical conductivity network.

NANOMYTE® BE-150E is composite electrode containing 20% silicon and 65% graphite by weight. BE-150E shows a nominal capacity of 750 mAh/g at 0.05C for an electrode loading of 4 mAh/cm2. In some cases, there is additional benefit in increasing the silicon content in the anode. The standard electrode sheet is cast single-sided on 5 inch x 10 inch (127 mm x 254 mm) sheets of 10 µm thick copper foil current collectors. Our tapes can be customized to accommodate different active material loadings, coating thickness, binder type (aqueous/non-aqueous), and binder content, as well as the type of a current collector.
