Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide (NCA) Tapes

Lithium nickel cobalt aluminum oxide (LiNi0.8Co0.15Al0.05O2) is a cathode material that provides higher capacity than LiCoO2 when both are charged to 4.2 / 4.3V. NCA-based batteries are most suited for use in moderate rate applications that require high energy density.

Our NCA materials are also available as powders.

ALD-coated NCA Tape

NANOMYTE® ALD-BE40E (NCA) is a cast electrode prepared with Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide that has been coated with an oxide using Atomic Layer Deposition. ALD surface coatings, which are only a few nanometers thick, offer a myriad of improved benefits to lithium-ion batteries. These “artificial SEI” layers provide critical protection at the electrode and electrolyte interface, delivering extended lifetime (reduced transition metal dissolution, reduced electrolyte decomposition) and better safety (reduced gassing, overvoltage protection, higher thermal runaway temperature and better abuse tolerance).
