Lithium Manganese Nickel Oxide (LMNO / Spinel) Tapes

Lithium manganese nickel oxide / spinel (LiMn1.5Ni0.5O4) is a cathode material that can be charged at high voltage (5V). Due to the high potential, the material has a higher energy density compared to lithium cobalt oxide and lithium iron phosphate. LMNO-based batteries can be used in high energy and high rate applications.

NEI’s NANOMYTE® SP-10E tape is made of our lithium manganese nickel oxide / spinel, which is produced by a novel process that leads to exceptional cycling stability. NANOMYTE® SP-10CE tape is cast from our LATP-coated spinel (SP-10C).

Our spinel materials are also available as powders.

ALD-coated Spinel Tape

NANOMYTE® ALD-SP10E is cast electrode prepared with lithium manganese nickel oxide that has been coated with an oxide using Atomic Layer Deposition. ALD surface coatings, which are only a few nanometers thick, offer a myriad of improved benefits to lithium-ion batteries. These “artificial SEI” layers provide critical protection at the electrode and electrolyte interface, delivering extended lifetime (reduced transition metal dissolution, reduced electrolyte decomposition) and better safety (reduced gassing, overvoltage protection, higher thermal runaway temperature and better abuse tolerance).
