Aug. 9, 2004: NEI announces the availability of Nd:YAG nanoparticles. See http://www.neicorporation.com/vag.html for powder characteristics. Reports on polycrystalline laser materials rivaling the optical properties of their single crystal counterparts has sparked great interest in developing fine grained high power laser materials. NEI’s nanopowders can be processed into green compacts and sintered by any one of several techniques.

July 26, 2004: $ 2.3 M in funding for NEI Corporation through new Phase II programs from the Department of Energy and the US Army. The contracts and grants are to further develop NEI’s nanomaterials technologies and capabilities.

June 4, 2004: NEI Corporation (www.neicorporation.com) announced today that an agreement has been put in place to begin supplying processed value-added nanomaterials of proprietary compositions to a leading polymer manufacturer. NEI’s nanomaterial will constitute a functional ingredient in bulk polymer nanocomposites. NEI anticipates this to be the beginning of a lasting buyer-supplier relationship with the company.

NEI Corporation also said that while there are several other nanomaterials in various stages of development under collaborative agreements, most of them with large corporations, the company prefers to continue working on products without any making public announcements.

March 16, 2004: NEI is awarded a Phase I contract by the Air Force to implement nanomaterials in high energy and high power lithium ion rechargeable batteries.
