NEI Corporation’s multimodal tungsten carbide cobalt thermal spray powder is now in commercial use in an application that requires protection against excessive erosive and abrasive wear. The unique structure of NEI’s thermal spray powder, available in tonnage quantities, leads to a coating that has high wear resistance in a particle laden fluid environment. These powders, identified as Nanomyte™ M1 WC/Co, had been undergoing tests in several applications by an array of customers, which include large corporations. The commercial use identified above is the first of its kind for the multimodal powders. It is anticipated that other commercial users will begin using NanomyteTM WC/Co powders in the foreseeable future. Also available are multimodal versions of powders that contain chromium as well for corrosion protection. These are designated as Nanomyte™ M9 WC/Co-Cr.
